broken ankle just in time for my January residency at 331…
yup yup…last week I broke my ankle. After getting home from the hospital I knit myself a little “toe hat” with the new yarn that I got for Christmas (thanks Katie! now I have warm toes despite the cast). The docs’ want to put some hardware in there to make sure it all heals up well and so I’m able to run a marathon again sometime in my life. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday and if I’m not in too much pain on Thursday I’ll be playing a full set at 331. If the pain persists I promise to at least muscle through three new tunes that I’ve been working on. This is the first of four shows I’ll be doing there this month!

Hi Brianna,
Aww! I hope you heal quickly! I wish I could see some of your shows up there, but I guess I just have to wait till you come to Asheville again…soon?

Hi Brianna,
Sorry to see you in crutches. It reminds me of kindergarten. Your Dad and I had just established ourselves as best friends and then he broke his collar bone. I can remember him in his sling thinking it was so cool. During nap time he didn’t have to lay out his mat and lie on the floor. I don’t know what he did during that time. I would like to find out!
FYI- We put together a play list of a couple hundred of our favorite songs so we could just have music playing all the time in the house during the holidays. Let You In was well represented.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery following tomorrow’s surgery. Happy and healthy new year wishes as well. Say hi to your Dad and Grandma for me.

I broke my ankle on 1/4/09 too! Three breaks, surgery, hospital, the whole bit.
I feel for you!!
I’ve been documenting the recuperation process… among other things.
