Full BIO

Hailing from the song-rich soil of Minneapolis, Brianna Lane is the latest in a deluge of compelling songwriters flooding the region. Lane’s vocals are both confidant and fragile, running parallels to Mindy Smith or a close confidant to Americana veteran Patty Griffin.

Brianna began their career as a young kid, taking piano lessons as an 8-year-old, and eventually quitting to learn things on her own. As an angsty teenager, Ani DiFranco and the Indigo Girls influenced their young world. They say, "I wanted to write songs but I couldn't figure out how to do that on the piano, so I picked up my mom's old guitar and taught myself some chords. I was a camp counselor every summer from ages 16-19. Campfires are always good for learning new folk tunes. I surrounded myself with players and soaked it all up."

While Lane may be well known to many in the Midwest for her past albums and contributions to many projects, including backing vocals for ex-Minneapolis folks Kevin Steinman, Eliza Blue, local character Jim Walsh, bike events with Ben Weaver. In their years of touring, Lane has shared the stage with Billy Bragg, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Colin Hay, Dar Williams, Patty Larkin, The Weepies, Jennifer Nettles (of Sugarland), and numerous other well seasoned musicians. They have also shared powerhouse, leg-powered bicycle tours with Righteous Babe artist Peter Mulvey.

In recent years Brianna teamed up with their partner Greg Neis and their friend and fellow songwriter John Louis to establish The Warming House - a small capacity non-profit listening room. From May of 2016 to March 13th, 2020 The Warming House hosted 250 events a year, serving hundreds of local musicians and nationally touring songwriters. Due to COVID-19 The Warming House has shut its doors and will remain closed until they can find a new home.

Brianna Lane is currently working on writing a song a week and connecting with friends and fans through streaming live shows once a season. You can also find them on Patreon - a subscription based community of makers of all kinds!
