Dreams & Nightmares

by Brianna lane 2004

Tell me all your dreams and all your nightmares
Are they as soft as silk
Are they as warm as this air
This air between us
Or cold as winter’s day
Do they keep you wide awake

Questions without answers press against your insides
Searching for some truth or some strange insight
Should I kiss you on the cheek
Could I sing you to sleep
Who do you want me to be to you

I could be you’re guardian
Armor tight and weapons drawn
But I have a feeling that you’re already safe and warm
Who do you want me to be to you

Tell me all your dreams and all your nightmares
Every shade of green
And every tiny fear
Fear between us
We have been here before
Caught in revolving doors
Who do you want me to be to you

I could be your open door
Holding back your quiet storm
But I have a feeling that you don’t want to feel at home
Who do you want me to be to you
